2019 Estate Shiraz

Lush, fruity and silky.

VINTAGE The wines from 2019 are full flavoured thanks to a vintage marked by drought. Our old vines stood up well to the dry conditions thanks to our bore-based irrigation system. This ensured excellent leaf canopy and shading through the fruit ripening part of the season.

VARIETY While Huntington Cabernet leads the way in the Trophy and Medal tally, it is Huntington Shiraz that often wins the hearts of our customers. As smooth and as fruity as you’d expect from the variety; the fine tannins are well managed to provide structure and length as well as the ability to age. Mudgee produces outstanding Shiraz in both the warm and cool years.

WINEMAKING Estate grown fruit from Block 10 was picked on 20/2 at 14.1 Be, and fermented on skins for 1 week. On skins, fermenting until 23/3 when pressed off to tank, then racked to well seasoned barriques (American) 20/4. Bottled August 22nd at 14.6% Alc.

IN GLASS Ruby red.

IN NOSE Ripe, dark plums and cherries, violets, hint of vanilla and creamy café au lait.

IN MOUTH Black plums, cherry ripe, black pepper and dark chocolate finish. Fine grained tannins and soft mouthfeel. Medium to full bodied, smooth and elegant finish.
