Summer 2020 Update

As 2020 draws to a close I look back on what we have all been through with disbelief and amazement, but also pride and gratitude that we made it through to this point. We’ve put the hard work in, we’ve had some good luck, some good help, and we’ve been overwhelmed by your support. We are coming out of this year exhausted but strong and we look forward to 2021 and beyond with optimism and belief.

The vineyard has never been in better shape which is nothing short of a triumph after the recent prolonged drought, and is the result of 3 years of intensive focus on soil and vine health plus the magnificent rain and cool conditions we’ve been enjoying. The new plantings of grenache, chardonnay and shiraz are thriving, and a joy to watch as they grow and strengthen daily.

The quality of our wine just keeps on improving, the critical acclaim for the wines on the bench and waiting to be released has never been so good, and we are steadily counting and tasting our way through the enormous Museum Cellar – uncovering some real gems as we go.

Our ‘all-hands on deck’ DIY renovation of the Cellar Door is finally complete (we were happily distracted by the earlier than expected re-opening of business) and now much better reflects the quality of our wines. The wonderful 2019 whites are back on the tasting bench having been successfully rationed over Autumn and Winter, and we have curated a selection of the finest local produce (cheese, charcuterie, seasonal fruit etc) for The Huntington Larder at the Cellar Door so you can build your own picnic to enjoy with a bottle of wine in our beautiful grounds.

The 2019 reds are in bottle and we are readying the winery and team for the 2021 vintage.

Cheers to you and yours, and here’s to a much-needed break.
