2023 Huntington Estate Pinot Noir Dry Rosé

Vibrant, succulent, and fresh.

VARIETY Huntington has been making a dry rosé from Estate Grown Pinot Noir since 1986 from vines planted in 1969. We’ve been on a 5 year journey to evolve the style from the deeply coloured, juicy, strawberries and cream flavoured original to a more modern expression of the fruit and wine style. I feel like we’ve arrived at our destination with this vintage.

WINEMAKING Even in a year like 2023, Mudgee isn't the right place to grow Pinot for red wine - but it makes a damn fine rosé. If you liked the 2022, you're going to LOVE this! It's made in the same way to be elegant and savoury. The only difference is that the fruit is more expressive. Picked before dawn to be as cold as possible on 22/2/23 from the 50 year old vines of Block 12 Pinot Noir at 11.5Bé. Fruit was crushed and on skins for just the few hours it was in the press, then kept very cool during fermentation and racked off lees as soon as possible to optimise fruit and freshness. Bottled 7/6/23 at 11.59% alc/vol.

IN GLASS Palest of pinks. Pretty!

IN NOSE White strawberry, yuzu, river stone and a hint of white flower.

IN MOUTH Bright, with generous fruit (Alpine strawberry and citrus) and a hint of minerality in the long finish. Refreshing and vibrant, the wine has a purity and fine-ness to it, is well balanced, soft and lovely.

DRINK WITH Friends at lunch, or on a warm evening as an aperitif.

CELLAR TO 2025 – will hold longer, but why wait. This wine is glorious now and will be for the next 18 months. Enjoy its beautiful youth!

93/100 "Barely a copper tinge, white cherries, red currants, red apple peel, the white bit of the watermelon and freeze dried strawberries muse. There is a fine creaminess of sorts but this is more fruit than savoury. An elongated length has me back for another glass, job done on a very good Rosé." QWINE 2023
