2021 Huntington Estate Pinot Noir Dry Rosé
Vibrant, fresh and light.
VARIETY Huntington has been making a dry rosé from Estate Grown Pinot Noir since 1986 from vines planted in 1969. We’ve been on a 5 year journey to evolve the style from the deeply coloured, juicy, strawberries and cream flavoured original to a more modern expression of the fruit and wine style. I feel like we’ve arrived at our destination with this vintage.
WINEMAKING The cool conditions of 2021 were ideal for the pinot, which ripened steadily and to perfection with lovely fruit flavours. Picked at 11.7 Bé (less ripe than previously), the wine was co-fermented with a dash of Cabernet (5%) to fill the palate out. Bottled 26th June at 12.3% ALC.
IN NOSE Green strawberries, green nectarine.
IN MOUTH Citrus including mandarin, just before ripe nectarine. The fruit character is not in any way cloying, but has lovely flavour and freshness. The wine has beautiful balance and a lovely palate - it's long, fluid and elegant.
DRINK WITH family and friends in the sunshine. Fabulous with curries
REVEWS & ACCOLADES
92/100 'Mudgee wine royalty. Spend some time with Huntington Estate's Tim Stevens and you will see that he bleeds for this district and he is very considerate in how his wines are produced. This Pinot Noir Rosé is a beauty and an example of that considered thought. Pale salmon, this loaded with refreshment factor. Highlighted by the white bit of the watermelon, red cherries and red currants, there is an enticing creamy drive that has some inescapable gravitational pull. Bone dry and delicately spiced, a red apple crunch has the final say on close. Picnics, barbecues or poolside - you choose.' QWINE 2020
