2018 Huntington Estate Shiraz

AUD $32.00 inc. gst

Deep, dark, brooding.

VINTAGE A great vintage.  Good rains during last winter ensured a full soil moisture profile. Consistent weather until late Summer also helped the vines gain strength to settle for a couple of hot spells just before ripening which was marked by ideal dry conditions.

VARIETY While Huntington Cabernet leads the way in the Trophy and Medal tally, it is Huntington Shiraz that often wins the hearts of our customers. As smooth and as fruity as you’d expect from the variety; the fine tannins are well managed to provide structure and length as well as the ability to age. Mudgee produces outstanding Shiraz in both the warm and cool years.

WINEMAKING Estate grown fruit from Block 10 was picked on 20/2 at 14.1 Be, and fermented on skins for 1 week. On skins, fermenting until 23/3 when pressed off to tank, then racked to well seasoned barriques (American) 20/4. Bottled August 22nd at 14.6% Alc.

IN NOSE Ripe dark fruit, dark chocolate.

IN MOUTH Ripe and sweet dark plums, rich bramble, dark chocolate, black pepper, espresso, umami. A lovely big wine with great structure - bold chalky tannins, good length, well-balanced acidity.

CELLAR 2038+

DRINK WITH dry aged tomahawk steak.
