2016 Huntington Estate Grenache
Vineyard / Winemaking: Huntington Estate fruit picked late (after the Cabernet) at 14.5 baumé. The wine spent eight months in a combination of aged French and American oak.
Description: Like a Pinot on "roids", this is my Amazonian wine. One of the best I've made, it's very sensual - smooth and velvety but with power and vibrancy on the palate.
Aroma: Lighter bodied (lighter than the 2015 due to vintage conditions) with aromas of cherries and raspberries, a hint of spice, some floral notes (red roses) and a whisper of dark chocolate.
Palate: In mouth, the aromas flow through with a lovely persistence of flavour.
Cellar: Serve a little chilled (fridge for five minutes). Drink now and for the next five years.
Drink with: One of those wines that goes with everything, I love it with my famous chorizo pasta or with antipasto.
